**Mount Strahan** is a [mountain](/source/Mountain) located on the [West Coast Range](/source/West_Coast_Range) in the [West Coast](/source/West_Coast%2C_Tasmania) region of [Tasmania](/source/Tasmania), Australia. With an elevation of 855 metres (2,805 ft) [above sea level](/source/Australian_Height_Datum), the mountain is situated directly east of [Macquarie Harbour](/source/Macquarie_Harbour) and, like [Mount Sorell](/source/Mount_Sorell), dominates the east side of the harbour near [Sarah Island](/source/Sarah_Island_(Tasmania)).[2]

The mountain was named by [Thomas Bather Moore](/source/Thomas_Bather_Moore) in honour of Sir [George Strahan](/source/George_Strahan_(colonialist)), a [Governor of Tasmania](/source/Governor_of_Tasmania).[2]
