# Mount Parsons

**Mount Parsons** ([67°47′S 62°35′E](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=67_47_S_62_35_E)) is a prominent pointed [peak](/source/Summit_(topography)), 1,120 m, standing in the [David Range](/source/David_Range), 1 nautical mile (1.9 km) south-southwest of its north extremity. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from aerial photos taken by the [Lars Christensen Expedition](/source/Lars_Christensen_Expedition), 1936–37. The peak was visited in January 1956 by an ANARE ([Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions](/source/Australian_National_Antarctic_Research_Expeditions)) party led by [John Bechervaise](/source/John_Bechervaise). Named by [Antarctic Names Committee of Australia](/source/Antarctic_Names_Committee_of_Australia) (ANCA) for [Neville Parsons](/source/Neville_Parsons), cosmic ray physicist at [Mawson Station](/source/Mawson_Station), 1955.
