'''Mount Nygren''' ({{coord|65|9|S|63|48|W|name="Mount Nygren"|display=inline,title}}) is an outstanding pointed [mountain](/source/mountain), bearing the aspect of a stark rock [nunatak](/source/nunatak) of pyramidal shape, which rises sharply above the middle of [Hotine Glacier](/source/Hotine_Glacier) on [Kyiv Peninsula](/source/Kyiv_Peninsula) in western [Graham Land](/source/Graham_Land), Antarctica.

==History==
Aircraft crews of the [United States Navy](/source/United_States_Navy)'s [Antarctic Development Squadron Six (VXE-6)](/source/VXE-6) photographed the mountain in 1969.

The [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) (US-ACAN) named the mountain for [Rear Admiral](/source/Rear_Admiral_(United_States)) [Harley D. Nygren](/source/Harley_D._Nygren), who was the Director of the [National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps](/source/National_Oceanic_and_Atmospheric_Administration_Commissioned_Officer_Corps) from 1970 to 1980. He previously had served as U.S. observer with the [British Antarctic Survey](/source/British_Antarctic_Survey) in 1962, when as an officer of the NOAA Corps' predecessor, the [United States Coast and Geodetic Survey Corps](/source/United_States_Coast_and_Geodetic_Survey_Corps), he conducted [oceanographic](/source/Oceanography) research aboard the British [research ship](/source/research_ship)s [RRS ''Shackleton''](/source/RRS_Shackleton) and [RRS ''John Biscoe''](/source/RRS_John_Biscoe_(1956)).
