# Mount Liptak

**Mount Liptak** ([78°45′S 84°54′W](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=78_45_S_84_54_W)) is a [mountain](/source/Mountain), 3,052 metres (10,013 ft) high with twin summits, located 7 nautical miles (13 km) southeast of [Mount Craddock](/source/Mount_Craddock) in the [Sentinel Range](/source/Sentinel_Range) of the [Ellsworth Mountains](/source/Ellsworth_Mountains) in [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica). It surmounts [Bolgrad Glacier](/source/Bolgrad_Glacier) to the west and [Kornicker Glacier](/source/Kornicker_Glacier) to the east.

It was first mapped by the [United States Geological Survey](/source/United_States_Geological_Survey) from surveys and [U.S. Navy](/source/U.S._Navy) air photos from 1957 to 1959, and was named by the [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) for [L.H. Liptak](/source/L.H._Liptak), an aviation machinist mate in the U.S. Navy who served as plane captain on the first reconnaissance flights to this vicinity in January 1958.[1]

Mount Liptak was first successfully climbed on 28 December 2012, by [Pachi Ibarra](/source/Pachi_Ibarra), [Ralf Laier](/source/Ralf_Laier) and [Todd Passey](/source/Todd_Passey).[citation needed]
