'''Mount Lassell''' ({{coord|71|45|S|68|50|W|source:GNIS|display=inline,title}}) is a snow-covered [peak](/source/summit_(topography)), {{Convert|1,000|m}} high, overlooking the head of [Neptune Glacier](/source/Neptune_Glacier) in the southeast part of [Alexander Island](/source/Alexander_Island), [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica). The peak appears to have been first sighted from the air by [Lincoln Ellsworth](/source/Lincoln_Ellsworth) on November 23, 1935, and roughly mapped from photos obtained on that flight by [W.L.G. Joerg](/source/W.L.G._Joerg). It was remapped from air photos taken by the [Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition](/source/Ronne_Antarctic_Research_Expedition), 1947–48, by [D. Searle](/source/D._Searle) of the [Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey](/source/Falkland_Islands_Dependencies_Survey) in 1960. The peak was named by the [UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee](/source/UK_Antarctic_Place-Names_Committee) for [William Lassell](/source/William_Lassell), an English [astronomer](/source/astronomer) who discovered [Umbriel](/source/Umbriel) and [Ariel](/source/Ariel_(moon)), [satellites](/source/Natural_satellite) of the planet [Uranus](/source/Uranus), and the satellite [Triton](/source/Triton_(moon)), orbiting the planet [Neptune](/source/Neptune).<ref name=gnis/>
