{{Short description|Mountain in King George Island, South Shetland Islands, Antarctica}}
'''Mount Hopeful''' is a peak standing {{Convert|1.5|nmi|km|0}} north of the head of [King George Bay](/source/King_George_Bay_(Antarctica)) and 1.5 nautical miles southeast of [Rea Peak](/source/Rea_Peak) on [King George Island](/source/King_George_Island_(South_Shetland_Islands)), in the [South Shetland Islands](/source/South_Shetland_Islands). It was named by the [UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee](/source/UK_Antarctic_Place-Names_Committee) in 1960 for the [Enderby Brothers](/source/Samuel_Enderby_%26_Sons)' schooner ''Hopeful'' (Captain [Henry Rea](/source/Henry_Rea)), which sailed from London in 1833 in company with the tender ''Rose'' in order to continue [John Biscoe](/source/John_Biscoe)'s Antarctic researches. The Antarctic voyage was abandoned after the ''Rose'' had been crushed in the pack ice at {{coord|60|17|S|53|26|W}} in December 1833 or January 1834.<ref name=gnis/>
