'''Mount Holt''' is a mountain rising to about {{Convert|750|m}} at the terminus of [Palestrina Glacier](/source/Palestrina_Glacier), [Lazarev Bay](/source/Lazarev_Bay), on [Alexander Island](/source/Alexander_Island), [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica). It is situated 9.2&nbsp;km southeast of [Piyanets Ridge](/source/Piyanets_Ridge), 19.2&nbsp;km south-southwest of [Mount Pontida](/source/Mount_Pontida) and 7.4&nbsp;km northwest of [Galerius Peak](/source/Galerius_Peak). The mountain was photographed from the air by the [Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition](/source/Ronne_Antarctic_Research_Expedition), 1947–48, and was mapped from the photos by [D. Searle](/source/D._Searle) of the [Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey](/source/Falkland_Islands_Dependencies_Survey) in 1960. It was named by the [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) for Commander [Fred C. Holt](/source/Fred_C._Holt), [U.S. Navy](/source/U.S._Navy), Commanding Officer of Squadron [VXE-6](/source/VXE-6) during [Operation Deep Freeze](/source/Operation_Deep_Freeze) in 1976, and an [LC-130](/source/LC-130) aircraft commander in 1975.<ref name=gnis/>

Commander Holt died peacefully at his Columbus GA home, surrounded by his family, on 26 OCT 2020. Acute kidney failure was the cause of death.
