'''Mount Edred''' ({{coord|70|35|S|69|0|W}}) is a prominent ice-covered mountain, {{convert|2,195|m|-1}} high, which stands {{convert|10|nmi|km}} inland from [George VI Sound](/source/George_VI_Sound), lies about {{convert|12|mi|0}} north of [Galileo Cliffs](/source/Galileo_Cliffs), and marks the southern limit of the [Douglas Range](/source/Douglas_Range) on [Alexander Island](/source/Alexander_Island), [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica). It was first photographed from the air on November 23, 1935 by [Lincoln Ellsworth](/source/Lincoln_Ellsworth) and mapped from these photos by [W.L.G. Joerg](/source/W.L.G._Joerg). Its east side was roughly surveyed in 1936 by the [British Graham Land Expedition](/source/British_Graham_Land_Expedition) and resurveyed in 1949 by the [Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey](/source/Falkland_Islands_Dependencies_Survey) (FIDS). It was named by the FIDS for [Edred](/source/Edred), a Saxon king of [England](/source/England) in the 10th century. The west face of the mountain was mapped from air photos taken by the [Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition](/source/Ronne_Antarctic_Research_Expedition), 1947–48, by [D. Searle](/source/D._Searle) of the FIDS in 1960.<ref name=gnis/> Mount Edred is the ninth highest peak of Alexander Island, succeeded by [Mount Calais](/source/Mount_Calais) and proceeded by [Mount Spivey](/source/Mount_Spivey).
