# Mount Bearskin

**Mount Bearskin** ([78°20′S 85°37′W](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=78_20_S_85_37_W)) is a [mountain](/source/Mountain) (2,850 m) located 5 nautical miles (9 km) northeast of [Mount Tyree](/source/Mount_Tyree), between [Patton](/source/Patton_Glacier) and [Crosswell Glaciers](/source/Crosswell_Glacier), in the [Sentinel Range](/source/Sentinel_Range), [Ellsworth Mountains](/source/Ellsworth_Mountains). It is linked to [Tyree Ridge](/source/Tyree_Ridge) by [Podgore Saddle](/source/Podgore_Saddle).

The mountain was mapped by the [United States Geological Survey](/source/United_States_Geological_Survey) (USGS) from surveys and [U.S. Navy](/source/U.S._Navy) air photos, 1957–1959. It was named by the [Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names](/source/Advisory_Committee_on_Antarctic_Names) (US-ACAN) for Captain [Leland S. Bearskin](/source/Leland_S._Bearskin) of the [United States Air Force](/source/United_States_Air_Force) (USAF), who participated in establishing the [IGY](/source/International_Geophysical_Year) [South Pole Station](/source/South_Pole_Station) in the 1956–57 season.
