'''Mount Alfred''' is a [mountain](/source/mountain) located at the Queen Reach arm and head of the [Jervis Inlet](/source/Jervis_Inlet) within the [Pacific Ranges](/source/Pacific_Ranges) of the [Coast Mountains](/source/Coast_Mountains) in [British Columbia](/source/British_Columbia), [Canada](/source/Canada). The mountain is the highest in the portion of the mainland between Jervis and [Toba Inlet](/source/Toba_Inlet)s, with its {{convert|1318|m|ft|0}} prominence defined by the pass at the head of the [Skwawka River](/source/Skwawka_River), which feeds the head of Jervis Inlet. The unofficially-named Alfred Creek Falls, on [Alfred Creek](/source/Alfred_Creek) which drains off the mountain's glaciers southeast into the Skwawka, is one of Canada's highest waterfalls at {{convert|700|m|ft|0}}.<ref>{{Cite web| url=http://www.waterfallsnorthwest.com/bc_waterfall.php?num=861&p=0|title=Alfred Creek Falls|publisher=Waterfalls of the Pacific Northwest|access-date=2009-12-25}}</ref>

==Naming==
The mountain was named during the 1860 survey by {{HMS|Plumper|1848|6}} who charted all of the area and was named after [Alfred Edward "Affie"](/source/Alfred%2C_Duke_of_Saxe-Coburg_and_Gotha), who was the third child and second son of [Queen Victoria](/source/Victoria_of_the_United_Kingdom) and [Prince Albert](/source/Albert%2C_Prince_Consort) of England, and who was [Duke of Edinburgh](/source/Duke_of_Edinburgh) from his birth in 1844 until his death in 1900.<ref name=bcgnis>{{cite bcgnis|id=997|name=Mount Alfred|access-date=2010-12-01}}</ref><ref>{{cite book|author=Hitz, Charles W.|year=2003|title=Through the Rapids - The History of Princess Louisa Inlet|page=54|publisher=Sikta 2 Publishing|location=Kirkland, WA|isbn=0-9720255-0-2}}</ref>

The first ascent of Mount Alfred was made in 1929 by Arthur Tinniswood Dalton and Percy Williams Easthope.<ref name=bcgnis/>
