For the mountain in British Columbia, see [Mount Abbott (British Columbia)](/source/Mount_Abbott_(British_Columbia)).

**Mount Abbot** is a mountain in [California](/source/California)'s [Sierra Nevada](/source/Sierra_Nevada_(U.S.)), in the [John Muir Wilderness](/source/John_Muir_Wilderness).[4] It is located between [Mount Mills](/source/Mount_Mills_(California)) and [Mount Dade](/source/Mount_Dade) along the Sierra Crest and straddles the border between [Fresno](/source/Fresno_County,_California) and [Inyo](/source/Inyo_County,_California) counties.

The peak was named for [Henry Larcom Abbot](/source/Henry_Larcom_Abbot) who, in 1855, was a member of the Williamson party of the Pacific Railroad Surveys in California and Oregon.[3][5] He retired from the [United States Army](/source/United_States_Army) as a [brigadier general](/source/Brigadier_general_(United_States)) in 1904.[3]
