'''Mouchli''' ({{langx|el|Μουχλί}}) was a [Byzantine](/source/Byzantine_Empire) town and castle in the [Tegea](/source/Tegea)n plain in the [Peloponnese](/source/Peloponnese) in [Greece](/source/Greece). It was on the edge of the [Partheni Basin](/source/Mount_Parthenion), between the Tegean plain and the [Argolid](/source/Argolid).<ref>Bakke, J. (2008), 61.</ref> In the early 14th century, after the {{ill|fall of Nikli|el|Άλωση του Νικλίου}} the seat of the [Bishopric of Morea](/source/Bishopric_of_Morea) was moved from [Nikli](/source/Nikli) to Mouchli. Mouchli fell to the forces of [Mehmed II](/source/Mehmed_II) in the 1460s, following the [fall of the last Byzantine defences](/source/Ottoman_conquest_of_the_Morea) in this part of the Peloponnese. After the conquest, Mouchli lost much of its significance, and was abandoned.
