<bdi>'''Mouaputa'''</bdi> (alternately spelled '''Mou{{'eta}}aputa''') is a prominent peak on the eastern side of the island of [Moorea](/source/Moorea) in [French Polynesia](/source/French_Polynesia). It lies about {{convert|3|km}} southeast of the head of [Cook's Bay](/source/Cook's_Bay_(Moorea)) and about {{convert|3|km}} northeast of the highest point in Moorea, [Mount Tohivea.](/source/Mount_Tohivea) 

Mouaputu,  Mount Tohivea and another prominent peak to the west, [Mouaroa](/source/Mouaroa), are the eroded remnants of the crater rim of the extinct [shield volcano](/source/shield_volcano) that built Moorea.<ref>{{Cite book |title=Tahiti and French Polynesia |date=2009 |publisher=Fodor, Random House |isbn=978-1-4000-0683-0 |edition=1st |location=New York |pages=68}}</ref>

{{lang|ty|Mou{{'eta}}a Puta}} means 'Hole Mountain' in [Tahitian](/source/Tahitian_language), a reference to a distinctive hole which passes entirely through the tip of the summit, visible from around Moorea.
