# Moses Warren

**Moses Warren** (December 4, 1779 – February 6, 1845) was an American politician from [New York](/source/New_York_(state)).

## Life

Born in [Peterborough](/source/Peterborough,_New_Hampshire), [Hillsborough County, New Hampshire](/source/Hillsborough_County,_New_Hampshire), Warren was the son of Daniel Warren (1752–1833) and Abigail (Drury) Warren (1751–1840). In 1806, he removed to [Hoosick, New York](/source/Hoosick,_New_York). In 1820, he made a well-received proposal to split the state of New York into legislative districts.[1] He was Sheriff of [Rensselaer County](/source/Rensselaer_County,_New_York) from 1821 to 1825.

He was a member of the [New York State Senate](/source/New_York_State_Senate) (3rd D.) from 1828 to 1831, sitting in the [51st](/source/51st_New_York_State_Legislature), [52nd](/source/52nd_New_York_State_Legislature), [53rd](/source/53rd_New_York_State_Legislature) and [54th New York State Legislatures](/source/54th_New_York_State_Legislature).

He died at [Troy, New York](/source/Troy,_New_York).[2] A year after his death, His third son, also named Moses Warren, was appointed to a judgeship in Troy.[3]
