The **Montenegrin Party** ([Montenegrin](/source/Montenegrin_language): Црногорска партија, [romanized](/source/Romanization_of_Montenegrin): *Crnogorska partija*, **CP**) is a [political party](/source/List_of_political_parties_in_Serbia) in [Serbia](/source/Serbia), representing the [Montenegrin ethnic minority](/source/Montenegrins_of_Serbia).[1] The party was founded by [Nenad Stevović](/source/Nenad_Stevovi%C4%87), who was its leader from 2008 to 2014, when he resigned.[2]

## History

The Montenegrin Party was founded on 18 February 2008 and was registered as a political party in the Serbian Ministry of Justice on 22 February 2008, becoming the first political party that represents the Montenegrin minority in Serbia.[3] Montenegrin Party ran as a minority list in the [2008 parliamentary election](/source/2008_Serbian_parliamentary_election). However, the party won only 0.07% of votes, failing to obtain a seat in the [National Assembly](/source/National_Assembly_of_Serbia). The party also ran independently in the [2012](/source/2012_Serbian_parliamentary_election) and [2014](/source/2014_Serbian_parliamentary_election), winning 0.1% and 0.18% votes respectively. In the 2014 election the Montenegrin Party electoral list was headed by [Joška Broz](/source/Jo%C5%A1ka_Broz), president of the [Communist Party](/source/Communist_Party_(Serbia)) and grandson of former [Yugoslav](/source/Yugoslavia) leader [Josip Broz Tito](/source/Josip_Broz_Tito).[4] The party did not run in the [2016 parliamentary election](/source/2016_Serbian_parliamentary_election), and supported the candidacy of [Saša Janković](/source/Sa%C5%A1a_Jankovi%C4%87) in the [2017 presidential election](/source/2017_Serbian_presidential_election).[5]
