# Monique Guay

**Monique Guay** (born October 27, 1959) is a [Quebec](/source/Quebec) politician. She was the [Bloc Québécois](/source/Bloc_Qu%C3%A9b%C3%A9cois) [Member of Parliament](/source/House_of_Commons_of_Canada) for the riding of [Rivière-du-Nord](/source/Rivi%C3%A8re-du-Nord_(electoral_district)).

Born in [L'Île-Bizard, Quebec](/source/L'%C3%8Ele-Bizard,_Quebec), she was an administrator and businesswoman before she was first elected in [1993](/source/1993_Canadian_federal_election) for the riding of [Laurentides](/source/Laurentides_(electoral_district)). She was re-elected in [1997](/source/1997_Canadian_federal_election), [2000](/source/2000_Canadian_federal_election), and [2004](/source/2004_Canadian_federal_election). From 2002 to 2004, she was the Bloc Québécois Caucus Chair. From 2004, she is the Bloc Québécois Deputy House Leader. In the [2011 elections](/source/2011_Canadian_federal_election), she was defeated by [Pierre Dionne Labelle](/source/Pierre_Dionne_Labelle) of the [NDP](/source/New_Democratic_Party_(Canada)).
