The landscape of the district is mostly mountainous. The highest point of the [Chersky Range](/source/Chersky_Range), ({{convert|3003|m|sp=us}}) high [Mount Pobeda](/source/Peak_Pobeda_(Chersky_Range)), is located in the district. The main river in the district is the [Indigirka](/source/Indigirka_River) with its [tributaries](/source/tributary) the [Moma](/source/Moma_River) and the [Chibagalakh](/source/Chibagalakh_River).
