# Mollemeta

***Mollemeta*** is a [monotypic](/source/Monotypic_taxon) [genus](/source/Genus) of [long-jawed orb-weavers](/source/Tetragnathidae) endemic to [Chile](/source/Chile).[4] It contains the single species, ***Mollemeta edwardsi***,[1] first described as *Landana edwardsi*, based on a female found in 1904.[3] The name is a reference to "Molle", the [Mapudungun](/source/Mapuche_language) word for "tree", because it builds its vertical orb webs on tree trunks.[4] It is in a clade with *[Allende](/source/Allende_(spider))*, *[Chrysometa](/source/Chrysometa)*, *[Dolichognatha](/source/Dolichognatha)*, *[Meta](/source/Meta_(spider))*, and *[Metellina](/source/Metellina)* due to several [autapomorphies](/source/Autapomorphy), including the unique shapes of the [cymbium](/source/Palpal_bulb#Structure), [conductor](/source/Palpal_bulb#Structure), and [embolus](/source/Palpal_bulb#Structure).[4]
