**Mojo Records** was a California-based [record label](/source/Record_label) founded in 1995 by producer [Jay Rifkin](/source/Jay_Rifkin). It became a [joint venture](/source/Joint_venture) with [Universal Records](/source/Universal_Records) in 1996 and then sold to the Zomba Group in 2001,[1] who placed it under their subsidiary [Jive Records](/source/Jive_Records).[2] The label has been largely inactive since [Zomba](/source/Zomba_Group_of_Companies) was purchased and restructured under [BMG](/source/Bertelsmann_Music_Group) in 2003, save for a few reissues of older material.
