**Mitchell** is a former town in [Eagle County](/source/Eagle_County,_Colorado), [Colorado](/source/Colorado), United States. The [GNIS](/source/Geographic_Names_Information_System) classifies it as a populated place.[1]

## History

A post office called Mitchell was established in 1883, and remained in operation until 1909.[2] The community was named for George R. Mitchell, a settler.[3]
