**Miss World Vietnam** ([Vietnamese](/source/Vietnamese_language): *Hoa hậu Thế giới Việt Nam*) is a [national](/source/Vietnam) [beauty pageant](/source/Beauty_pageant) held to select a representative of [Vietnam](/source/Vietnam) to participate in the [Miss World](/source/Miss_World) pageant, one of the four [largest beauty pageants](/source/Big_Four_international_beauty_pageants) in the world.[1][2] Besides, Vietnam also has [Mr World Vietnam](/source/Mr_World_Vietnam) contest.

Vietnam first participated in [Miss World 2002](/source/Miss_World_2002) and also successfully bid to host [Miss World 2010](/source/Miss_World_2010) but later withdrew.[3][4][5] The current titleholder is [Phan Phương Oanh](/source/Phan_Ph%C6%B0%C6%A1ng_Oanh) from [Hanoi](/source/Hanoi), who was crowned on March 29, 2026.[6]

[Miss Vietnam](/source/Miss_Vietnam), [Miss Cosmo Vietnam](/source/Miss_Cosmo_Vietnam) and Miss World Vietnam are the [three biggest beauty pageants](https://vi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danh_s%C3%A1ch_cu%E1%BB%99c_thi_s%E1%BA%AFc_%C4%91%E1%BA%B9p_t%E1%BA%A1i_Vi%E1%BB%87t_Nam), given the [surplus of beauty pageants in Vietnam](https://vi.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%E1%BA%A1m_ph%C3%A1t_hoa_h%E1%BA%ADu).

## History

On April 22, 2019, Sen Vàng Entertainment held a press conference to announce the first-ever Miss World Vietnam pageant in 2019 and the winner will participate in [Miss World 2019](/source/Miss_World_2019) in [Thailand](/source/Thailand).[7] Unlike any other competition in Vietnam, Miss World Vietnam will hold its final round twice, once in [Hoa Binh Theater](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hoa_Binh_Theater&action=edit&redlink=1) [[vi](https://vi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nh%C3%A0_h%C3%A1t_H%C3%B2a_B%C3%ACnh)], [Ho Chi Minh City](/source/Ho_Chi_Minh_City) and once in [Tuần Châu](/source/Tu%E1%BA%A7n_Ch%C3%A2u) island, [Hạ Long](/source/H%E1%BA%A1_Long), [Quảng Ninh](/source/Qu%E1%BA%A3ng_Ninh) province.[8] Meanwhile, the finals took place in [Danang](/source/Danang) city.

In 2020 and 2021, due to the impact of the global [COVID-19 pandemic](/source/COVID-19_pandemic), the Miss World Vietnam competition in particular, and Miss World in general, were postponed.

In 2022, the competition returned but was still affected by the aftermath of the pandemic. Nevertheless, the competition continued to develop, with the first preliminary round of [Miss World Vietnam 2022](/source/Miss_World_Vietnam_2022) taking place in [Hanoi](/source/Hanoi), followed by contestants traveling to [Thái Nguyên](/source/Th%C3%A1i_Nguy%C3%AAn) for several sub-competitions.[9] The second and third preliminary rounds took place in [Danang](/source/Danang) and [Ho Chi Minh City](/source/Ho_Chi_Minh_City) respectively, after which the competition moved to [Ninh Thuận](/source/Ninh_Thu%E1%BA%ADn) for additional supplementary rounds.[10] The final was originally scheduled to take place in [Vũng Tàu city](/source/V%C5%A9ng_T%C3%A0u), [Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province](/source/B%C3%A0_R%E1%BB%8Ba%E2%80%93V%C5%A9ng_T%C3%A0u_province), but was later moved to [Quy Nhơn city](/source/Quy_Nh%C6%A1n), [Bình Định province](/source/B%C3%ACnh_%C4%90%E1%BB%8Bnh_province).

[Miss Vietnam](/source/Miss_Vietnam) is Vietnam's first [national pageant franchise](/source/List_of_Miss_World_countries) at [Miss World](/source/Miss_World).[16] However, because the contest is only held every two years in even years, in odd years Vietnam will choose representatives by handpick from [other beauty contests](https://vi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danh_s%C3%A1ch_cu%E1%BB%99c_thi_s%E1%BA%AFc_%C4%91%E1%BA%B9p_t%E1%BA%A1i_Vi%E1%BB%87t_Nam).[17][18]
