**Miss International 2002**, the 42nd [Miss International](/source/Miss_International) pageant, was held on 30 September 2002 in [Tokyo](/source/Tokyo), Japan[1] at the Century Hyatt. [Małgorzata Rożniecka](/source/Ma%C5%82gorzata_Ro%C5%BCniecka) of [Poland](/source/Poland) crowned her successor [Christina Sawaya](/source/Christina_Sawaya) of [Lebanon](/source/Lebanon) at the end of the event.[2]

This edition also saw the crowning of the first woman of [Middle Eastern](/source/Middle_Eastern) descent to win [Miss International](/source/Miss_International), [Christina Sawaya](/source/Christina_Sawaya) representing Lebanon.[3][4]
