**Miss Grand Spain** (*[Spanish](/source/Spanish_language): Miss Grand España*) is a national female [beauty pageant](/source/Beauty_pageant) in [Spain](/source/Spain) that has been held annually since 2016 to select the country representatives to compete in [Miss Grand International](/source/Miss_Grand_International) pageant.[1][2] Its inaugural edition was held in [Seville](/source/Seville) with 24 [provinces](/source/Provinces_of_Spain) and [autonomous communities](/source/Autonomous_communities_of_Spain) participating; in which Adriana Sánchez Rivas of [Málaga](/source/Province_of_M%C3%A1laga) won the main title.[3][4] The pageant has been owned by Vicente Gonzalez since the establishment.[5][6]

The reigning Miss Grand Spain is Aitana Jiménez of [Lleida](/source/Miss_Grand_Catalonia) who was crowned on 14 June 2025 at Pabellón Auditorio Miguel Ángel Cerezo Nieto, in [Adamuz](/source/Adamuz).[7] Jiménez will represented the country at the [Miss Grand International 2025](/source/Miss_Grand_International_2025) pageant in [Bangkok](/source/Bangkok), [Thailand](/source/Thailand), on 18 October[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

## Background

### History

Miss Grand Spain was held for the first time in 2016 after Vicente Gonzalez took over the franchise from the former owner, Marcel Arnalot Salazar, in 2015.[5] Few [provincial pageants](/source/Provinces_of_Spain) were held to select their representatives for the inaugural edition such as Miss Grand Sevilla, Miss Grand Huelva, and Miss Grand Ciudad Real.[8][9][10] However, the number of its preliminary contest was significantly increased to 24 in the 2021 edition.[11] In some provinces, for instance, [Seville](/source/Province_of_Seville), [Huelva](/source/Province_of_Huelva), and [Cádiz](/source/Province_of_C%C3%A1diz), local pageants are also held to determine delegates for the province competition,[12][13] in which winners hold the title "Miss Grand (Province)" for the year of their reign.[1] Some runners-up of the provincial pageants might be appointed to represent the neighboring provinces in case the directors of such provinces were lacking.[14][15]

The pageant was canceled in 2020 due to the [COVID-19 pandemic](/source/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Spain). It was originally scheduled to be held at the Fair Pavilion in the city of [Daimiel](/source/Daimiel) in [Ciudad Real Province](/source/Province_of_Ciudad_Real) on 3 October, with 31 provincial representatives.[6][16][17] Nonetheless, all candidates instead gained the right to participate in [Las Palmas](/source/Province_of_Las_Palmas) for the succeeding edition, Miss Grand Spain 2021.[18][19] The event also featured the presence of Dori Rodríguez from [Navarre](/source/Navarre), the first openly [transgender](/source/Transgender) contestant to compete for the Miss Grand Spain title.[20]

Since 2018, the pageant, including its regional organs, has collaborated with many [non-governmental organizations](/source/Non-governmental_organization) (NGOs) to [raise funds](/source/Fundraising) available and provide necessities for the needed people,[21][22][23][24] such as; the Pequeño Valiente Foundation, which is dedicated to providing the necessary support to children and families affected by childhood [cancers](/source/Cancer),[25][26] as well as the Mechones Solidarios, the [Málaga](/source/M%C3%A1laga)-based [NGO](/source/NGO) that produce and donate [natural hair wigs](/source/Wig) to [chemotherapy-induced](/source/Alopecia#Drugs) and [universal alopecia](/source/Alopecia_universalis) patients.[22][23][24]

## Main pageant

The pre-pageant of Miss Grand Spain usually commenced a week before the grand final contest, consisting of the swimsuit competition, personal interview, national costume round, and preliminary competition.[21] In the preliminary round, held 2–3 days before the grand final, all contestants will compete in swimwear, cocktail dresses, and evening gowns in front of a panel of preliminary judges.[21][39] Each round of the preliminary competition together with the Swimsuit competition will determine the winner of the Best Evening Gown, Best cocktail dress, as well as the Best in Swimsuit awards, all such awards will be announced later in the grand final round.[21][39] Moreover, the scores from all pre-pageant portions, also determine the quarterfinalists during the grand final telecast of the pageant.[21][39]
