**Miss Grand Chile** is a national female [beauty pageant](/source/Beauty_pageant) in [Chile](/source/Chile) that has been held annually since 2016, founded by Boris Cabrera of Latin Scouting y CBC Producciones,[1] aiming to select country representatives to compete in its parent international contest, [Miss Grand International](/source/Miss_Grand_International).[1] In 2019, the pageant license was consigned to Keno Manzur, and subsequently transferred to Cristian Chanaca and Gabriel Alfonsino in 2021.[2]

Since the first participation in 2014, the only placement achieved by the Chilean representative at [Miss Grand International](/source/Miss_Grand_International) is a top 20 finalist, reached by Francisca Lavandero in 2019.[3]

## History

[Chile](/source/Chile) joined Miss Grand International for the first time in the 2014 edition in [Bangkok](/source/Bangkok), represented by 21-year-old model *Karla Bovet Quidel*, then absent for two years consecutively.[4][5] Later in 2017, Latin Scouting y CBC Producciones – headed by Boris Cabrera – the organizer of the Reinas de Chile, had obtained the franchise and consequently ran the inaugural edition of the *Miss Grand Chile* contest at the Music Palace Event Center in [Talca](/source/Talca) on September 22.[1] The contest featured nine national finalists representing [Chillán](/source/Chill%C3%A1n), [Chillán Viejo](/source/Chill%C3%A1n_Viejo), [Concepción](/source/Concepci%C3%B3n%2C_Chile), [La Florida](/source/La_Florida%2C_Chile), [Pucón](/source/Puc%C3%B3n), [Puerto Montt](/source/Puerto_Montt), [Quillota](/source/Quillota), [Talca](/source/Talca), and [Valdivia](/source/Valdivia), of whom Nicole Ebner from [La Florida](/source/La_Florida%2C_Chile) was named *Miss Grand Chile 2017* and later participated at [Miss Grand International 2017](/source/Miss_Grand_International_2017) in [Vietnam](/source/Vietnam) but got a non-placement.[1][6] In addition to crowning such the winner, the [Miss Supranational Chile 2017](/source/Miss_Supranational) title was also awarded to *Konstanza Schmidt* of [Quillota](/source/Quillota).[1] However, since the contest was not held in the following year, the licensee assigned *María Flores*, one of the 2017 finalists from [Concepción](/source/Concepci%C3%B3n%2C_Chile), to participate at the international event in [Myanmar](/source/Myanmar) instead.[7][8]

The pageant was not held in 2020 due to the [COVID-19 pandemic](/source/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Chile) caused the organizer to appoint the candidate to take part in the 2020 international edition in [Thailand](/source/Thailand) instead.[9][10] Later in 2021, Manzur relinquished the franchise to *Cristian Chanaca* and *Gabriel Alfonsino*, who have been organizing the contest annually since then.[2]
