**Miss Grand Brazil 2014** was the first edition of the [Miss Grand Brazil](/source/Miss_Grand_Brazil) beauty pageant, held at the Anfiteatro da Casa de Cultura in [Olímpia](/source/Ol%C3%ADmpia), [São Paulo](/source/S%C3%A3o_Paulo_(state)) on July 25, 2014.[1][2][3][4] Fourteen candidates competed for the title,[2][5] of whom the representative of [Paraná](/source/Paran%C3%A1_(state)), Yameme Ibrahim, was named the winner.[2][3][6][7] She then represented Brazil on the parent stage, [Miss Grand International 2014](/source/Miss_Grand_International_2014), held on November 1, 2014, in [Bangkok](/source/Bangkok), [Thailand](/source/Thailand),[2][5] where she was placed among the top 20 finalists.[7][8]

The event featured a traditional performance of the Olímpiense Group of Parafolkloric Dances ([Portuguese](/source/Portuguese_language): *Grupo Olímpiense de Danças Parafolclóricas*; GODAP),[9] and was supported by the Municipality of [Olímpia](/source/Ol%C3%ADmpia), the Municipal Secretariat of Culture, Sport, Tourism, and Leisure led by Gustavo Zanette,[1][2][9] as well as Miss Teen Brasil director, Gerson Antonelli,[1][10][9] who also served as the Miss Grand Brazil licensee that year.[2][9]

## Background

In early 2014, after Gerson Antonelli took over the franchise of the [Miss Grand Brazil](/source/Miss_Grand_Brazil) contest from the organization chaired by Henrique Fontes, [Concurso Nacional de Beleza](/source/Miss_World_Brazil) (CNB Brazil),[2][7] he collaborated with the Olímpia City Council to organize the first Miss Grand Brazil contest in the city as the special event of the city's annual festival, the [National Folklore Festival of Olímpia](/source/Ol%C3%ADmpia#Culture), on occasion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the festival,[1][3][4][10] and also to select the country representative for the [Miss Grand International 2014](/source/Miss_Grand_International_2014) contest, which was later held in [Thailand](/source/Thailand) that year.[1][2][3][11] The contest was held in parallel with the traditional pageant of the festival, the Concurso da Rainha do Folclore,[1][3][10] with the winner received both titles.[4][9][10][11]

The application period for the contest was technically open from June 25 to July 4, however only [Olímpia](/source/Ol%C3%ADmpia) residents with at least [high school education](/source/Education_in_Brazil#High_school_(ensino_médio)) were permitted to participate.[1] The pageant's boot camp happened along with the 2014 Folklore Festival,[2][4][10] and the grand final night, originally scheduled for July 11,[1] was arranged on July 25.[2][3][4][9]

The organizer also intended to organize an additional contest the following year to select the country representative for the Miss Grand International 2015 pageant,[10] but lost the license to the former 2013 licensee, [CNB Brazil](/source/Miss_World_Brazil).[7]
