# Mischarytera

***Mischarytera*** is a [genus](/source/Genus) of rainforest trees, constituting part of the plant family [Sapindaceae](/source/Sapindaceae). Four species are known to science as of Dec 2013, found growing naturally in eastern [Queensland](/source/Queensland), Australia, and in [New Guinea](/source/New_Guinea).[2][3][4][5] Formerly until 1995, they had names within the genus *[Arytera](/source/Arytera)*, subgenus *Mischarytera*.[1][2][6][7]

In 2006 botanist Paul I. Forster formally scientifically described *[Mischarytera megaphylla](/source/Mischarytera_megaphylla)* based on specimens collected from trees of a [restricted area (endemic)](/source/Endemism) of the lowland [Daintree Rainforest](/source/Daintree_Rainforest) region, part of the larger [Wet Tropics region](/source/Wet_Tropics_of_Queensland) of north-eastern Queensland, Australia.[4][5] Before the formal description these trees were known and informally described as *Mischarytera* sp. Oliver Creek ([L.J.Webb](/source/Leonard_Webb_(academic))+ 10903) Qld Herbarium and Sapindaceae sp. (Noah Creek BG 6026).[2][4][5]
