Funk studied [philosophy](/source/philosophy) and [history](/source/history) at [Humboldt University of Berlin](/source/Humboldt_University_of_Berlin). She is currently working as a freelance journalist for works such as ''[Der Freitag](/source/Der_Freitag)'' and ''[Zeit Magazin](/source/Die_Zeit)'' and publishes texts on culture, society and the arts. In the summer of 2014, she contributed interviews from Israel to ''Zeit Magazine'' and wrote about her life there during the [2014 Israel-Gaza conflict](/source/2014_Israel-Gaza_conflict). In her article ''Ohne mich'' (″''Without Me″'')<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.zeit.de/zeit-magazin/2014/50/antisemitismus-deutschland-mirna-funk|title=Antisemitismus: Ohne mich – ZEITmagazin|date=4 December 2014|work=ZEITmagazin|accessdate=14 July 2015}}</ref> Funk wrote about [antisemitism](/source/antisemitism) and her emigration to Israel.
