The club was founded in 1885, joining the [Irish Football Association](/source/Irish_Football_Association) in 1886<ref>''Belfast News-Letter'', 4 October 1886</ref> and  won the inaugural [Mid-Ulster Cup](/source/Mid-Ulster_Cup) in 1887–88 with a 3–1 win over Loughgall.<ref>{{cite journal |title=Football |journal=Armagh Standard |date=4 May 1888 |page=3}}</ref>
