**Michael Porter** (born 2 May 2007) is a British [racing driver](/source/Racing_driver) set to compete in [GT World Challenge Europe](/source/GT_World_Challenge_Europe) for [Optimum Motorsport](/source/Optimum_Motorsport).

## Career

Porter made his car racing debut in 2022, racing in the final two rounds of the [Ginetta Junior Championship](/source/2022_Ginetta_Junior_Championship) for Preptech UK.[1] After racing in the end-of-year Winter Championship for R Racing, Porter remained with them for the following year's main season,[2] in which he scored nine podiums en route to a fourth-place points finish.[3]

Stepping up to GT4 competition for 2024, Porter joined Forsetti Motorsport to race in the [GT4 Winter Series](/source/2024_GT4_Winter_Series), [British GT](/source/2024_British_GT_Championship) and GT Cup Championships,[4][5] as a candidate for the AMR Driver Academy.[6] In the former, Porter took seven wins in the six-round season to clinch the GT4 Pro title at the finale in [Barcelona](/source/Circuit_de_Barcelona-Catalunya).[7][8] In the British GT Championship, Porter won the season-opening race at [Oulton Park](/source/Oulton_Park) and scored four more podiums to end the season to secure runner-up honors overall,[9] whilst also securing the GT4 Silver title.[10] Meanwhile in the GT Cup Championship, Porter secured the GTH class title alongside Sam Neser and Matthew Higgins.[11][12] During 2024, Porter also made one-off appearances in the [GT4 European Series](/source/2024_GT4_European_Series) for the same team,[13] as well as in the [International GT Open](/source/2024_International_GT_Open) for McLaren-fielding [Optimum Motorsport](/source/Optimum_Motorsport).[14]

At the beginning of 2025, Porter raced in the [Middle East Trophy](/source/2025_Middle_East_Trophy) for [Optimum Motorsport](/source/Optimum_Motorsport), finishing third overall at the [6 Hours of Abu Dhabi](/source/2025_6_Hours_of_Abu_Dhabi) and second among the GT3 Pro entries.[15] Porter raced in [International GT Open](/source/2025_International_GT_Open) for the rest of the year for the same team alongside [Zac Meakin](/source/Zac_Meakin) for their first full-season in the series.[16] In the season-opening round at [Algarve](/source/Algarve_International_Circuit), the pair took their maiden series podium in race two by finishing second,[17] a feat they repeated at the [Hungaroring](/source/Hungaroring) and [Le Castellet](/source/Circuit_Paul_Ricard) to end the year eighth in points.[18][19] In parallel, Porter raced in the Gold Cup of the [GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup](/source/2025_GT_World_Challenge_Europe_Endurance_Cup) for the same team alongside Largim Ali and [James Allen](/source/James_Allen_(racing_driver)).[20]

For the following year, Porter remained with Optimum for a dual campaign in both the [GT World Challenge Europe Endurance](/source/2025_GT_World_Challenge_Europe_Endurance_Cup) and [Sprint Cups](/source/2025_GT_World_Challenge_Europe_Sprint_Cup),[21] as a new addition to the McLaren GT3 Junior Driver Programme.[22]
