'''Michael Tresh Jr''' (February 23, 1914 – October 4, 1966)<ref>Biography Index. A cumulative index to biographical material in books and magazines. Volume 7: September, 1964-August, 1967. New York: H.W. Wilson Co., 1968. (BioIn 7) Who's Who in Professional Baseball. By Gene Karst and Martin J. Jones, Jr. New Rochelle, NY: Arlington House Publishers, 1973. (WhoProB)</ref> was an American professional [baseball](/source/baseball) [catcher](/source/catcher), who played in [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) (MLB) for the [Chicago White Sox](/source/Chicago_White_Sox) (1938–1948) and [Cleveland Indians](/source/Cleveland_Indians) (1949). Tresh batted and threw right-handed.<ref>Ancestry.com. ''U.S., Professional Baseball Player Profiles, 1876-2004'' [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations Inc, 2004</ref> His son, [Tom](/source/Tom_Tresh), also played in the big leagues, from 1961 to 1969.

In a 12-season career, Tresh posted a .249 [batting average](/source/batting_average_(baseball)) with two [home run](/source/home_run)s and 297 [RBI](/source/run_batted_in) in 1027 [games played](/source/games_played). His best season was 1940, when he batted .281 with 64 RBIs, 62 [runs](/source/Run_(baseball)), and 135 [hits](/source/hit_(baseball))—all career-highs. Tresh was durable enough to catch all 150 White Sox games in 1945, and is just one of three 20th-century catchers to catch every one of an MLB team's games in a season. The others are [Frankie Hayes](/source/Frankie_Hayes) ([Philadelphia Phillies](/source/Philadelphia_Phillies)) and [Ray Mueller](/source/Ray_Mueller) ([Cincinnati Reds](/source/Cincinnati_Reds)), each with 155 games caught in 1944.

After having suffered from a heart attack earlier in the year,<ref>{{Cite news|date=5 Oct 1966|title=Funeral Services for Tresh's Father|page=26|work=[The Californian](/source/The_Salinas_Californian)|url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/520094947|access-date=8 Feb 2022}}</ref> Tresh died from cancer at the age of 52 in [Detroit](/source/Detroit), [Michigan](/source/Michigan),<ref>Social Security Administration; Washington D.C., USA; ''Social Security Death Index, Master File''</ref><ref>{{Cite news|date=5 Oct 1966|title=Rites Thursday for Mike Tresh|page=82|work=[The Minneapolis Star](/source/The_Minneapolis_Star)|url=https://www.newspapers.com/image/188407540|access-date=8 Feb 2022}}</ref> and is interred at Michigan Memorial Park in [Flat Rock, Michigan](/source/Flat_Rock%2C_Michigan).<ref name="retrotresh">{{cite web|title=Mike Tresh|url=http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/T/Ptresm101.htm|work=retrosheet.org|publisher=Retrosheet, Inc|accessdate=November 19, 2010}}</ref>
