==Education==
He graduated from the music program at [York University](/source/York_University) in Toronto in 1986 with a BFA.<ref>University of Toronto Jazz Studies Blog {{cite web |url=http://www.uoftjazz.ca/2013/02/juno-nomination |accessdate=30 April 2013 |title=UofTJazz.ca }}</ref> He also studied saxophone with Don Palmer in Halifax, [Pat LaBarbera](/source/Pat_LaBarbera) in Toronto, and [Dave Liebman](/source/Dave_Liebman) at the [Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity](/source/Banff_Centre_for_Arts_and_Creativity) and New York City. He studied improvisation and composition with [Dave Holland](/source/Dave_Holland_(bassist)) in Banff and New York City.

== Career ==
He played with the [Shuffle Demons](/source/Shuffle_Demons)<ref name="Yanow"/> from 1984–1989 and in Time Warp. He has also been a sideman for [David Occhipinti](/source/David_Occhipinti), [David Braid](/source/David_Braid_(musician)), [Rob McConnell](/source/Rob_McConnell), [Metalwood](/source/Metalwood), and [Harrison Squared](/source/Harrison_Squared) (with [Harry Vetro](/source/Harry_Vetro) and Harrison Argatoff).<ref>Jazz Journal{{cite web |url=https://jazzjournal.co.uk/2020/03/04/harrison2-trout-in-swimwear/|accessdate=2020-03-04|title=jazzjournal.co.uk|date=4 March 2020 }}</ref> His main instrument is tenor saxophone, which he plays in the Murley/Braid Quartet.
