As well as the Whalers, he also played for the [Washington Capitals](/source/Washington_Capitals), [Boston Bruins](/source/Boston_Bruins), and [Toronto Maple Leafs](/source/Toronto_Maple_Leafs). Millar was born in [St. Catharines](/source/St._Catharines), [Ontario](/source/Ontario).

Millar played 10 seasons in the [Deutsche Eishockey Liga](/source/Deutsche_Eishockey_Liga) and one in [National League A](/source/National_League_A) between 1991 and 2002.
