**Michael Edson** (called Mike; born 2 September 1942) is a [British](/source/British_people) [Church of England](/source/Church_of_England) priest; he was [Archdeacon of Leicester](/source/Archdeacon_of_Leicester) from 1994 to 2002.[1]

Edson was educated at the [University of Birmingham](/source/University_of_Birmingham) and the [College of the Resurrection, Mirfield](/source/College_of_the_Resurrection). He was [ordained](/source/Ordained) [deacon](/source/Deacon) in 1972, and [priest](/source/Priest) in 1973.[2] After a [curacy](/source/Curate) at [St Peter, Barnstaple](/source/St_Peter's_Church%2C_Barnstaple) he was [Team Vicar](/source/Team_Vicar) of Barnstaple from 1977 to 1982. He was [Vicar](/source/Vicar) of [Roxbourne](/source/Roxbourne) from 1982 to 1989; and [Area Dean](/source/Rural_Dean) of [Harrow](/source/Harrow%2C_London) from 1985 to 1989. He was [Warden](/source/Warden_(college)) of [Lee Abbey](/source/Lee_Abbey) from 1989 to 1994 before his time as [Archdeacon of Leicester](/source/Archdeacon_of_Leicester); and [Rector](/source/Rector_(ecclesiastical)) of [Torridge](/source/Torridge_District) afterwards. In retirement, from 2014 to 2015, he was [Acting Archdeacon of Barnstaple](/source/Archdeacon_of_Barnstaple).[3]
