Born in [Hinsdale, Illinois](/source/Hinsdale%2C_Illinois), Bohn's family moved to [Boulder, Colorado](/source/Boulder%2C_Colorado), when he was a year old; he was a three-sport athlete at [Boulder High School](/source/Boulder_High_School) and graduated in 1979.
