# Mike Beatz

**Michael Anthony Barnett**, (born 5 December 1988) also known as **Third World Don** or **Mike Beatz**, is a [Jamaican](/source/Jamaicans) rapper, singer and record producer from [Kingston](/source/Kingston,_Jamaica), Jamaica. His production resume includes notable [hip hop](/source/Hip_hop) acts such as [T-Pain](/source/T-Pain), [Trina](/source/Trina), [C-Rayz Walz](/source/C-Rayz_Walz) & [East Coast](/source/East_Coast_hip_hop) duo [C-N-N](/source/C-N-N).[1][2]

He is a member of the Miami group [Wizard Sleeve](/source/Wizard_Sleeve), most known for their hit single "[Riverside (Let's Go!)](/source/Riverside_(Let's_Go!))", released by [Data Records](/source/Data_Records) in 2010.[3] The single entered the charts at No. 2 in the UK & Ireland and is noted as one of [BBC Radio 1](/source/BBC_Radio_1)'s top 40 singles of that era, with over 23 Million streams on the digital platform Spotify.[4][5][6]

In 2011, he released the solo project "Boom Bap", produced entirely by [Norwegian](/source/Norwegian_people) beat-maker Adonis.[7][8] The 10-track [EP](/source/Extended_play) features guest appearances from [Guilty Simpson](/source/Guilty_Simpson), [Royce da 5'9"](/source/Royce_da_5'9%22), [AZ](/source/AZ_(rapper)), [Termanology](/source/Termanology), [Skyzoo](/source/Skyzoo), [Sha Stimuli](/source/Sha_Stimuli), [Reks](/source/Reks), and [¡Mayday!](/source/%C2%A1Mayday!) frontman [Wrekonize](/source/Wrekonize).[9][10][11][12] Don has also worked with US [rappers](/source/Rappers) [Saigon](/source/Saigon), [Sean Price](/source/Sean_Price), and [Cappadonna](/source/Cappadonna) from [Wu-Tang Clan](/source/Wu-Tang_Clan).[13][14][15]

After Relocating to [Los Angeles](/source/Los_Angeles) in 2017, Third World Don inked a [recording contract](/source/Recording_contract) with Strainge Entertainment,[16] a label owned by Elliot Grainge,[17] son of [billionaire](/source/Billionaire) music mogul and [Universal Music Group](/source/Universal_Music_Group)’s chairman and [chief executive officer](/source/Chief_executive_officer) [Lucian Grainge](/source/Lucian_Grainge).[18] He then released his single "Ray Charles" to much critical acclaim,[19][20][21] amassing over 1.3 Million streams on [SoundCloud](/source/SoundCloud) alone.[22] The song is also featured on [Universal Music Group](/source/Universal_Music_Group)’s curated [Hip Hop](/source/Hip_Hop) Alternative compilation album.[23] [Pharrell Williams](/source/Pharrell_Williams), [Logic](/source/Logic_(musician)), [Ty Dolla $ign](/source/Ty_Dolla_$ign), [Big Sean](/source/Big_Sean) and [Chance The Rapper](/source/Chance_The_Rapper) are also featured on this compilation.[24]

Grainge, looking to expand his reach even further, signed newcomers [Trippie Redd](/source/Trippie_Redd) and [Tekashi 6ix9ine](/source/Tekashi_6ix9ine), adding them to the label's roster,[25][26][27] which was subsequently shut down when Grainge was sued by [Kansas City](/source/Kansas_City_metropolitan_area) [rapper](/source/Rapper) [Tech N9ne](/source/Tech_N9ne) for [trademark infringement](/source/Trademark_infringement).[28][29] The 24-page lawsuit accused Grainge of violating his label [Strange Music](/source/Strange_Music)’s [intellectual property rights](/source/Intellectual_property_rights) by adapting the name Strainge, which he claimed was confusing and misleading to fans.[30] After a lengthy court battle, Grainge sent out a [press release](/source/Press_release) stating he would no longer be using the name Strainge, instead operating under his new imprint called [10K Projects](/source/10K_Projects).[31][27]
