## Playing career

He also won a [Harty Cup](/source/Dr_Harty_Cup) medal that year as a boarder at [St. Colman's College](/source/St_Colman's_College,_Fermoy) in [Fermoy](/source/Fermoy).[1] He later lined out with [University College Cork](/source/UCC_GAA) before winning a [Sigerson Cup](/source/Sigerson_Cup) title with [University College Dublin](/source/UCD_GAA) in 1954.[2] Goold later lined out at senior level with Macroom and [captained](/source/Captain_(sport)) the team to the [Cork SFC](/source/Cork_Senior_Football_Championship) in 1958 before winning a second title in 1962.[3][4]

Goold first played for [Cork](/source/Cork_GAA) as a member of the [minor team](/source/All-Ireland_Minor_Football_Championship) in 1948.
