**Michelle Hu Ran** (; born 15 January 1990) is a Chinese actress best known for her roles in the crime film series *[From Vegas to Macau](/source/From_Vegas_to_Macau)* trilogy (2014–2016) and sci-fi series *The Great Adventurer Wesley* (2018). She frequently collaborates with director [Wong Jing](/source/Wong_Jing).

## Biography

Hu was born on 15 January 1990 in a well-off family in [Tianjin](/source/Tianjin), China.[1][2] Her father is a teacher and cultivated her from an early age.[1] She learnt singing, violin and swimming, and had thought of becoming a singer when she was young.[1] She later attended the [Communication University of China](/source/Communication_University_of_China) to study information engineering and graduated with a [Bachelor of Engineering](/source/Bachelor_of_Engineering).[3] After graduation, she temporarily worked as a technician.[1] Hu was later introduced to director [Wong Jing](/source/Wong_Jing) through an acquaintance from Wong's production company in 2010.[4][2] Wong recognized Hu's acting potential for acting and signed her as an actress. She became one of Wong's frequent collaborators collectively known as "Jing girl" (Chinese: 晶女郎).[4] Hu featured in Wong's 2011 wuxia television series *[Twin of Brothers](/source/Twin_of_Brothers_(2011_TV_series))* and 2012 romance comedy film *[Mr. and Mrs. Gambler](/source/Mr._and_Mrs._Gambler)*.[1] In 2014, Hu was cast in a supporting lead role as an antagonistic assassin in Wong's crime comedy film *[From Vegas to Macau](/source/From_Vegas_to_Macau)*.[5] She reprised her role in the sequels *[From Vegas to Macau II](/source/From_Vegas_to_Macau_II)* and *[From Vegas to Macau III](/source/From_Vegas_to_Macau_III)*.[5] Hu also co-led the 2016 action thriller film *[Mission Milano](/source/Mission_Milano)* alongside [Andy Lau](/source/Andy_Lau) and starred in a main role in 2017 crime thriller film *[Chasing the Dragon](/source/Chasing_the_Dragon_(film))*.[6][7]

In 2018, Hu was cast as [Bai Su](/source/Bai_Su), the female protagonist of the sci-fi series *[The Great Adventurer Wesley](/source/The_Great_Adventurer_Wesley)*, and garnered public recognition.[8][2] She had a lead role in the 2021 crime thriller film *[Once Upon a Time in Hong Kong](/source/Once_Upon_a_Time_in_Hong_Kong_(2021_film))* and appeared in the 2023 action thriller film *[Sakra](/source/Sakra_(film))*.[9][10]
