# Michelle Dench

**Michelle Dench** is an Australian sportswoman who played [women's Australian rules football](/source/Women's_Australian_rules_football) and [basketball](/source/Basketball) in the [Women's National Basketball League](/source/Women's_National_Basketball_League).

Dench played for the [Melbourne University Mugars](/source/Melbourne_University_Mugars) in the [Victorian Women's Football League](/source/Victorian_Women's_Football_League). She was a member of the [Australia women's international rules football team](/source/Australia_women's_international_rules_football_team) that played against [Ireland](/source/Ireland_women's_international_rules_football_team) in the [2006 Ladies' International Rules Series](/source/2006_Ladies'_International_Rules_Series).[1][2][3]

She has been an All-Australian and the [AFL Women's National Championships](/source/AFL_Women's_National_Championships) in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007.

She is the daughter of [North Melbourne Football Club](/source/North_Melbourne_Football_Club) great [David Dench](/source/David_Dench).[4]

She retired at the end of the 2009 season.
