# Michel Fragasso

**Michel Fragasso** (1888–1954), originally from [Cerignola](/source/Cerignola), in the province of [Foggia](/source/Foggia) in [Italy](/source/Italy) was a Quebec engineer who participated in the design and production of several public infrastructures in [Quebec](/source/Quebec), [Canada](/source/Canada). He had married Clara Taché, daughter of the architect [Eugène-Étienne Taché](/source/Eug%C3%A8ne-%C3%89tienne_Tach%C3%A9) who is the author of the plans of the [Parliament of Quebec](/source/Parliament_of_Quebec), the [Armory of Quebec](/source/Armory_of_Quebec) as well as the motto of Quebec: "[I remember](/source/Je_me_souviens)".[1]

## Biography

At the end of his engineering studies in [Liège](/source/Li%C3%A8ge), Michel Fragasso immigrated to [Quebec](/source/Quebec) in 1912 to pursue a career as an engineer. In addition to having participated in the construction of the [Quebec Bridge](/source/Quebec_Bridge) around 1913, this engineer erected several dams, in particular those of the Jacques-Cartier lakes, in the [Laurentides Wildlife Reserve](/source/Laurentides_Wildlife_Reserve),[2] and of the [Sautauriski Lake](/source/Sautauriski_Lake), located in [Jacques-Cartier National Park](/source/Jacques-Cartier_National_Park).[3]

The toponym "Lac Fragasso" was formalized on October 19, 1990, by the [Commission de toponymie du Québec](/source/Commission_de_toponymie_du_Qu%C3%A9bec)[4] referring to the work of life of Michel Fragasso.
