Thaddeus was born on January 12, 1967, in [New York City](/source/New_York_City), and grew up in [Morningside Heights](/source/Morningside_Heights). His father, [Patrick](/source/Patrick_Thaddeus), and his mother, Janice, both held doctorates from Columbia.
