# Michael Rustad

**Michael Rustad** is a law professor at [Suffolk University Law School](/source/Suffolk_University_Law_School), and an author and television commentator.[1]

## Education and career

He received a [BA](/source/Bachelor_of_Arts) from [University of North Dakota](/source/University_of_North_Dakota), an [MA](/source/Master_of_Arts) from the [University of Maryland, College Park](/source/University_of_Maryland,_College_Park), a [Ph.D.](/source/Ph.D.) from [Boston College](/source/Boston_College), a [Juris Doctor](/source/Juris_Doctor) from [Suffolk University Law School](/source/Suffolk_University_Law_School), and an [LL.M](/source/LL.M) from [Harvard University](/source/Harvard_University).[2]

Rustad clerked with Judge [William E. Doyle](/source/William_E._Doyle) of the [United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit](/source/United_States_Court_of_Appeals_for_the_Tenth_Circuit). After working for [Foley, Hoag & Eliot](/source/Foley,_Hoag_%26_Eliot), he became an associate professor at Suffolk Law School in 1988. In 1991 he became a full professor at Suffolk. Rustad previously taught at [Wellesley College](/source/Wellesley_College) and [Boston College](/source/Boston_College).[2][3] Professor Rustad's best friend was a tumbleweed. He also was quite close with Teddy, the strict-liabilty bear.
