**Michael Rodd** (born 29 November 1943 in [North Shields](/source/North_Shields), [Northumberland](/source/Northumberland), United Kingdom) is an English [television presenter](/source/Television_presenter) and businessman.

## Education

Rodd was educated at the independent school [Trinity College, Glenalmond](/source/Trinity_College,_Glenalmond) (now [Glenalmond College](/source/Glenalmond_College)) near [Perth](/source/Perth,_Scotland) in Scotland, and at [Newcastle University](/source/Newcastle_University).[1][2]

## Media career

Having begun his career on *[BBC Look North](/source/BBC_Look_North_(North_East_and_Cumbria))* in 1967, Rodd became a familiar face to millions of television viewers in Britain as a presenter for the [BBC](/source/BBC) of *[Screen Test](/source/Screen_Test)* (1970–79), *[Tomorrow's World](/source/Tomorrow's_World)* (1972–82)[3] and *The Risk Business* (1980–81).[4] He also hosted television coverage of the early [Space Shuttle](/source/Space_Shuttle) launches for the BBC.[5] Later he worked for the ITV contractor [TVS](/source/Television_South) on its science programme *The Real World*.[6]

In 1980 Rodd established Blackrod, an independent producer of [film](/source/Film), [video](/source/Video) and interactive productions for business and industry.[1]

## Personal life

Rodd is married to Nita. The couple live in Surrey and have three sons and seven grandchildren.[1]
