He represented Australia as a member of the [Australia men's national team](/source/Australia_men's_national_field_hockey_team) at the [1984 Summer Olympics](/source/1984_Summer_Olympics). Nobbs also coached the [India men's national team](/source/India_men's_national_field_hockey_team) from 2011 to 2013.

==Hockey coach==

==Personal life and death==
His daughter [Kaitlin Nobbs](/source/Kaitlin_Nobbs) plays hockey and is a member of the [New South Wales Arrows](/source/New_South_Wales_Arrows) and Australian Women's team Development Squad. She made her international debut in 2016 at the International Hockey Open in Darwin, NT. His wife [Lee Capes](/source/Lee_Capes), sister-in-law [Michelle Capes](/source/Michelle_Capes) and brother-in-law [Mark Hager](/source/Mark_Hager) also represented the nation at the Olympic Games.
