He was selected by the [Green Bay Packers](/source/Green_Bay_Packers) in the sixth round of the [2005 NFL draft](/source/2005_NFL_draft). He played [college football](/source/College_football) at [Texas A&M](/source/Texas_A%26M_Aggies_football). Montgomery was also a member of the [Minnesota Vikings](/source/Minnesota_Vikings), [Las Vegas Locomotives](/source/Las_Vegas_Locomotives) and [Montreal Alouettes](/source/Montreal_Alouettes). ## College career Montgomery was born in [Carthage, Texas](/source/Carthage,_Texas) and attended [Center High School](/source/Center_Independent_School_District) in [Center, Texas](/source/Center,_Texas). He played [college football](/source/College_football) at [Navarro Junior College](/source/Navarro_Junior_College) and [Texas A&M](/source/Texas_A%26M_University). He started his career at Navarro where he played for two years recording 131 [tackles](/source/Tackle_(football_move)) and six [sacks](/source/Quarterback_sack). Before his junior year he transferred to Texas A&M where he recorded 123 tackles, seven sacks, and one interception, and earned first-team All-[Big 12](/source/Big_12) honors. ## Professional career ### Green Bay Packers (first stint) Montgomery was selected 180th overall by the [Green Bay Packers](/source/Green_Bay_Packers) in the sixth round of the [2005 NFL draft](/source/2005_NFL_draft).[1] For the first three years of his career he was used mainly as a backup [defensive end](/source/Defensive_end). During the 2008 season, after the Packers lost starting defensive end [Cullen Jenkins](/source/Cullen_Jenkins) due to injury and released [Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila](/source/Kabeer_Gbaja-Biamila), Montgomery along with rookie [Jeremy Thompson](/source/Jeremy_Thompson_(American_football)) split time starting at defensive end. He finished the season starting eight games.
