==Career==
===College===
Behonick played [college soccer](/source/College_soccer_in_the_United_States) at [American University](/source/American_University) from 1999 to 2002, where he helped the Eagles reach the [NCAA Tournament](/source/NCAA_Division_I_men's_soccer_tournament) as a junior and earned second-team all-[Patriot League](/source/Patriot_League) honors the same season.

===Professional===
Behonick was selected 51st overall in the [2003 MLS SuperDraft](/source/2003_MLS_SuperDraft) by [D.C. United](/source/D.C._United) but did not remain with the club. Instead, he began his professional career with the [Charleston Battery](/source/Charleston_Battery) of the [A-League](/source/USL_First_Division) but did not see significant playing time until starting 10 matches in the 2005 season.

In 2004, the Battery sent him on loan to the [Harrisburg City Islanders](/source/Harrisburg_City_Islanders) where he played seven games. In 2006, he was signed by [New York Red Bulls](/source/New_York_Red_Bulls) as the team's third-choice goalkeeper behind [Tony Meola](/source/Tony_Meola) and [Jon Conway](/source/Jon_Conway). The Red Bulls sent him on loan to the [Long Island Rough Riders](/source/Long_Island_Rough_Riders)<ref>[http://www.liroughriders.com/history/325666.html Long Island Rough Riders All Time Stats] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120225120839/http://www.liroughriders.com/history/325666.html |date=2012-02-25 }}</ref> before releasing him at the end of the season. In 2007, he joined [Crystal Palace Baltimore](/source/Crystal_Palace_Baltimore) after passing their trial in early 2007. He began the season as first choice goalkeeper, but after some heavy defeats found himself dropped in favor of [Brian Rowland](/source/Brian_Rowland).

Half way through the season he was signed by the Islanders to serve as second string goalie behind [Josh Saunders](/source/Josh_Saunders). In January 2008 he suffered an injury to his leg when in camp with the Puerto Rico national team, sidelining him for five months and ruining his chance of becoming first [goalkeeper](/source/Goalkeeper_(association_football)) for the [Puerto Rico Islanders](/source/Puerto_Rico_Islanders) after [Josh Saunders](/source/Josh_Saunders) left. In July 2008 he rejoined the [Puerto Rico Islanders](/source/Puerto_Rico_Islanders) as backup to [Bill Gaudette](/source/Bill_Gaudette).<ref>{{cite news| url=http://www.elnuevodia.com/diario/noticia/futbol/deportes/a_escena_los_islanders/426441| archive-url=https://archive.today/20120730120856/http://www.elnuevodia.com/diario/noticia/futbol/deportes/a_escena_los_islanders/426441| url-status=dead| archive-date=2012-07-30| title=A escena los Islanders| author=Luis Santiago Arce| newspaper=[El Nuevo Día](/source/El_Nuevo_D%C3%ADa)| date=2008-07-04| accessdate=2008-07-10}}</ref>
