The **MicC** [non-coding RNA](/source/Non-coding_RNA) (previously known as IS063 [1]) is located between the *ompN* and *ydbK* [genes](/source/Gene) in *[E. coli](/source/E._coli)*. This Hfq-associated RNA is thought to be a regulator of the expression level of the OmpC [porin](/source/Porin_(protein)) protein, with a [5′](/source/5%E2%80%B2) region of 22 nucleotides potentially forming an [antisense](/source/Antisense_RNA) interaction with the *ompC* [mRNA](/source/MRNA). Along with [MicF RNA](/source/MicF_RNA) this family may act in conjunction with EnvZ-OmpR [two-component system](/source/Two-component_regulatory_system) to control the OmpF/OmpC protein ratio in response to a variety of environmental stimuli.[2] The expression of *micC* was shown to be increased in the presence of [beta-lactam antibiotics](/source/%CE%92-lactam_antibiotic).[3]
