The Meulenwald is part of the [Moselle Eifel](/source/Moselle_Eifel) and extends from [Ehrang/Quint](/source/Trier-Ehrang%2FQuint) in the northern part of the borough of [Trier](/source/Trier) in the southwest to the [Wittlich Basin](/source/Wittlich_Basin) near [Salmtal](/source/Salmtal) in the northeast and between [Zemmer](/source/Zemmer) to the west and [Hetzerath](/source/Hetzerath_(Eifel)) to the east. In the southwest it reaches the [Kyll](/source/Kyll) and in the northeast as far as the [Salm](/source/Salm_(Moselle)), both tributaries of the [Moselle](/source/Moselle); the streams of [Quintbach](/source/Quintbach) and the Bendersbach flow within the hill range.
