# Mekhak Ghazaryan

**Mekhak Ghazaryan** (Armenian: Մեխակ Ղազարյան; born December 13, 1966, in [Gyumri](/source/Gyumri), [Shirak](/source/Shirak_Province)), also known as **Mikhail Kazaryan**, is a retired amateur [boxer](/source/Boxing) from [Armenia](/source/Armenia). He represented the Soviet Union at the [1988 Summer Olympics](/source/1988_Summer_Olympics) in [Seoul, South Korea](/source/Seoul,_South_Korea) in the men's featherweight (57 kg) division.[1] Ghazaryan was defeated in the third round by eventual gold medalist [Giovanni Parisi](/source/Giovanni_Parisi). He represented his native country at the [1996 Summer Olympics](/source/1996_Summer_Olympics) in [Atlanta, Georgia](/source/Atlanta,_Georgia), in the men's lightweight (60 kg) division.[2] Ghazaryan lost in the second round to [Michael Strange](/source/Michael_Strange_(boxer)).

Ghazaryan won the European Championship title in the lightweight division at the [1987 European Amateur Boxing Championships](/source/1987_European_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in Turin. Ghazaryan won a bronze medal at the [1993 European Amateur Boxing Championships](/source/1993_European_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in the lightweight division.[3]
