**Mehdi Monajati** ([Persian](/source/Persian_language): مهدی مناجاتی, born 29 June 1947) is a retired [Iranian](/source/Iranian_peoples) [footballer](/source/Association_football) and [Coach](/source/Manager_(association_football)).

## Club career

Monajati started his professional football career with [Pas Tehran](/source/Pas_Tehran) in his homeland in [Tehran](/source/Tehran). He played his whole [football](/source/Association_football) career with [Pas Tehran](/source/Pas_Tehran) playing with the team for 15 years. In five of his career with [Pas](/source/Pas_Tehran) he played was a [Team meli](/source/Iran_national_football_team) player.[1]

## International career

Monajati debuted for the [Iran national football team](/source/Iran_national_football_team) on 13 September 1969 in a friendly match against [Pakistan](/source/Pakistan_national_football_team) which ended 4-2 victory for [Iran](/source/Iran_national_football_team). He played his next two games against [Turkey](/source/Turkey_national_football_team). Monajati then debuted his first [FIFA](/source/FIFA) tournament by competing against [Denmark](/source/Denmark_national_football_team) in [1972 Summer Olympics](/source/Football_at_the_1972_Summer_Olympics) which ended a 0-4 loss. He also played three [1974 FIFA World cup qualifying matches](/source/1974_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC_and_OFC)) which two of them was a win for [Iran](/source/Iran_national_football_team), in those three matches he did manage to score a goal against [North Korea](/source/North_Korea_national_football_team). His 15th and last match was a [friendly match](/source/Exhibition_game) against [Czechoslovakia](/source/Czechoslovakia_national_football_team) which ended a 0-1 loss.[2]

## Management career

Monajati was appointed as [Team meli](/source/Iran_national_football_team) Head Coach in 1989, the job last only months after he just managed 3 matches, his side beat [Thailand](/source/Thailand_national_football_team) 3-0 but losing to [China](/source/China_national_football_team) 0-2 in [Shenyang](/source/Shenyang) but they later beat them 3-2 in Tehran. He left the [Iranian national team](/source/Iran_national_football_team) after he failed to qualify Iran for the [1990 FIFA World Cup](/source/1990_FIFA_World_Cup).
