**Meglumine** is a [sugar alcohol](/source/Sugar_alcohol) derived from [glucose](/source/Glucose) that contains an [amino group](/source/Amine) modification. It is often used as an [excipient](/source/Excipient) in pharmaceuticals[1] and in conjunction with iodinated compounds in [contrast media](/source/Contrast_medium) such as [diatrizoate meglumine](/source/Diatrizoate_meglumine), [iothalamate meglumine](/source/Iothalamate), and [iodipamide meglumine](/source/Iodipamide_meglumine).[2]
